This publication, Frequently Asked Questions About Your Student's Education and The IB Middle Years Program, contains valuable information for all parents and students in the Scotts Valley Unified School District.

In response to questions from the community, the Academic Committee of the SVHS Parent Club set out to prepare a diagram describing the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. It soon became clear that, along with a diagram, we needed to define the many terms and concepts unique to IB. We also realized the importance of describing how the program is implemented at both Scotts Valley Middle School and Scotts Valley High School. The result is this document, which we hope will serve as a handy and useful guide.

The SVHS Parent Club Academic Committee would like to acknowledge parents Carol Campbell and K.A. McCord, who spent over a hundred hours and several months researching, writing, and editing this document. Special thanks to parents Pam Santee and K.A. McCord for their work on the layout and design, and to the other parent members of the committee, Rosemary Hayward, Peggy Livingston, and Marilyn Straw, for their editorial and production assistance.
