What Is the MYP Student Portfolio?
Each student has an ongoing Student Portfolio that spans the years the student has participated in the MYP. This portfolio contains selected samples of the student's work in a given discipline, showing achievement against the corresponding MYP assessment criteria. Each Student Portfolio contains rubric-based work that the student has completed in each of the eight MYP Subject Groups.
For each piece of work in the Student Portfolio, the following process has occurred:
- Before giving the assignment to the class, the teacher has explained the rubric to be used for gauging the work.
- The student has completed the assignment, keeping in mind the rubric against which it is to be measured.
- Optionally, the work has been evaluated against the stated rubric by the student who did the work (self-evaluation) and by other students in the class (peer evaluation).
- The teacher has assessed the work according to the previously explained rubric.
Portfolios are maintained by staff and are available for parent review by appointment. At the end of 10th grade, all students receive their Student Portfolios.
