What Does "Successful Completion" Mean?
Successful completion means that the student's work meets certain requirements, as specified in the MYP assessment criteria. These criteria are performance standards against which a student's work is measured. MYP assessment does NOT compare students to each other; MYP assessment compares each student's work to a global standard of excellence.
The MYP assessment has two main parts. One part of the assessment looks at the growth in the student's grasp of the subject over time. Another part of the assessment judges the student's work at the end of a learning period in relation to the objectives of the course.
Each of the eight MYP Subject Groups has a unique and well-defined set of assessment criteria. For example, in Language A, the assessment criteria are:

The student's eight Portfolios (one for each Subject Group) and Personal Project are assessed on a scale of 1--7. A score of 1 represents the minimum acceptable effort, 2 represents the beginning of success, and 7 indicates an exemplary effort.
