Students attending Scotts Valley Middle School (SVMS) and Scotts Valley High School (SVHS) are being taught under an internationally esteemed educational program known as the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. The purpose of this document is to help parents and others in the Scotts Valley community understand how the Middle Years Program works by addressing the following questions:
- What Is the International Baccalaureate Organization ("IBO")?
- What Is the IB Philosophy?
- What Is the Middle Years Program ("MYP")?
- How Do Students Benefit from the IB MYP?
In addition, this document summarizes how the MYP is implemented at SVMS and SVHS, and it defines and explains many of the important terms and components of the MYP, such as Areas of Interaction, MYP Subject Groups, Student Portfolio, MYP Rubrics, Personal Project, Record of Achievement, Record of Achievement with Distinction, and MYP Certificate.
